Have you ever experienced issues when posting a photo or video from your mobile device? This was a weekly inconvenience for the 92,000 fans who poured into Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to watch their Florida Gators football team on game day. With the younger generation’s desire to share their experiences through their mobile devices and the constant need for Wi-Fi, the University of Florida knew the lack of internet connectivity needed to be combated. A solution was found when they turned to longtime Matrix partner, Extreme Networks for some help.
Florida has made previous upgrades to the internet systems, but the recent $6.3 million investment to the stadium’s Wi-Fi network that is set to be completed by the 2019 season, will be state of the art.
“This will truly be a game-changing experience for our fans,” UF athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a statement. “We are making a significant commitment so that fans will be able to enjoy the game and stay connected with their friends and share all of the great experiences that come with being at The Swamp on a Saturday.”
